Bist du bei mir, BWV 508 “Bist du bei mir, geh ich mit Freuden” (When you are near, I go with joy) is the title of an aria from Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel’s opera ‘Diomedes’. The original opera is apparently lost, but the aria has survived in it’s best known version, an arrangement by Johann Sebastian Bach for voice and continuo (catalogued as BWV 508).
